Pick-up from Nairobi Airport with your private 4X4 vehicle and transfer to Arusha for dinner and overnight at Arusha Mountain Village (Serena Lodge)

2 OCTOBER 2022:

From Arusha drive towards Lake Manyara National park, lunch at the campsite and proceed for game drive, Lake Manyara is famous for its tree climbing lion and the colorful lake is the paradise of flamingoes, the Great Rift valley offer another beautiful geological feature which forms the home of the baboon and many other monkeys. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge.

3 OCTOBER 2012:

Drive to Serengeti national park, a game drive en-route across the Southern plains of Serengeti  which is used as breeding ground for migratory wild beasts, from December to February the migratory animals occupy the plains for breeding before moving clockwise towards the western and northern Serengeti before they cross the border to Maasai-Mara in Kenya. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.

4 OCTOBER 2022:

After breakfast departs with a picnic lunchbox for full day game drive in the heart of Serengeti, your game drive continues towards the middle of the Serengeti  to a place called Seronera which is sometimes referred to be the heart of the Serengeti, you will encounter large prides of lions, schools of hippos, troops of baboons, leopards and buffaloes. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.

5 OCTOBER 2022:

Early morning game drive around the Seronera river circuit where we commonly have predators hunting in the early morning, the river makes the base for the resident animals which are not migrant. After lunch you will drive across the southern plain via  Oldvai gorge a cradle of mankind, an historical site where the first human being was discovered. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge.

6 OCTOBER 2022:

Depart with picnic lunchbox and drive into the famous Ngorongoro crater, the home of the big five and sometimes referred to be the Garden of Eden or the Ark of Noah, the crater provides not only the home for the big five which are lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino but also many other animals. Here you will enjoy a full game drive and see many zebras and an uncountable number of gazelles and thousands of flamingoes. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge

7 OCTOBER 2022:

Drive for full day game viewing at Tarangire national park, this park earn it’s respect following the highest concentration of the African Elephant; The suitable soil of the park which hold high amounts of water attracts thousands of animal to this park during the dry season when all the area around are dry Tarangire national park grows green! The magnificent Baobab trees offer an amazing outlook. At late hours drive to Arusha for dinner and overnight at Arusha Mountain Village.

8 OCTOBER 2022:

Start of your Kilimanjaro trek, 6 days Marangu route, see itinerary below.

This route is also known as the coca-cola route, the nights are spent in comfortable huts which offer comfort and a spirit of adventure at the same time. Bathrooms are available with running water. All your mountain gear is ported and your meals are prepared by a professional mountain cook. It is possible to accomplish the Marangu route in 5 days, thereby getting to the summit a day earlier in comparison with the Machame route however you will have a shorter acclimatization period. Marangu route does offer you the option of spending an extra acclimatization day on the mountain. This extends the route to a 6-day trek, which greatly increasing your chances of success.

Transfer to Marangu Gate (6000 ft) – Mandara Hut (9,000 ft)

Hiking time: 4 hours – Habitat: Mountain forest

Leave Arusha town early in the morning and drive for about 2 hours to Marangu gate on the eastern edge of Mount Kilimanjaro.  After some minor paperwork at the National Park gate, you start your hike at around 11am. You start walking through mountain forest from the park gate (6000 ft) to Mandara Hut (9000 ft), taking about 4 hours with picnic lunch at half way. Reach Mandara Hut at about 3pm. Relax at the hut have some tea or coffee or other sort of the best things from your mountain cook. Have Dinner in the early evening, about 7 Ppm. 

9 OCTOBER 2022:

Mandara Hut (9,000 ft) – Horombo Huts (12,000 ft) – Hiking time: 6 hours – Habitat: Heath land

After breakfast (approx. 8:00am) pack for the next leg. Break camp and start hiking to Horombo Hut (12,000 ft). This hike should take up to 5 to 6 hours. You hike through lower heathland dominated by small shrubs. Stop half way for lunch. The view of Mawenzi is spectacular and amazing at this point. The summit of Kibo is seen from Horombo Hut. Arrival Horombo Hut about 3pm. Unpack and prepare for dinner. 

10 OCTOBER 2022:

Horombo Hut: acclimatization day

Horombo Hut is a village of huts perched on a small plateau, with buildings similar to Mandara, normally bustling with hikers, guides, porter’s and with an atmosphere of adventure and excitement. You will meet both ascending and descending hikers here. This extra day and night at Horombo is for additional acclimatization. A hike towards the Mawenzi Hut, passing the Zebra Rocks on the way (about 3 hours up and 1,5 hours down), is strongly recommended. This hike will further assist with the process of acclimatization. Remember to drink enough water and move slowly! All meals for the day are provided at the hut. Retire to bed early and get a last good night’s rest

11 OCTOBER 2022:

Horombo Hut (12,000 ft) – Kibo Hut (15,500 ft) – Hiking time: 7 hours – Habitat: Alpine Desert

Wake up and get breakfast as normally (advised to wake up before the sun will make you able to take great photos of the sunrise). Begin the hike to Kibo Hut (15,500 ft). The first half of the day’s hike traverses the upper heath land while the second half crosses the vast saddle which is and alpine desert resemble a moon landscape this connects Mawenzi and Kibo. Here is where the altitude sickness starts, be careful to notice signs of altitude sickness. The hike will take 6 to 7 hours lunch is half way.

12 OCTOBER 2022:

SUMMIT DAY (19,340 ft) – Hiking time: 7 hours – Habitat: Alpine Desert

After dinner relaxes and wake up around midnight for a light breakfast and prepare for the summit ascent. This part of the hike starts early in the morning, before dawn so the hiker can reach Uhuru peak at sunrise. Leave at about 1am and reach Gilman’s Point on top of the Kilimanjaro crater rim at about 7am.Here the climber gets to see the view of the crater and glacier while heading to Uhuru peak, arriving there one and half hours later. Another 2 hours of hiking brings the climber back to Kibo Hut for branch and proceed to the Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.

13 OCTOBER 2022:

Descending from Horombo to the Marangu Gate

Breakfast as usual, pack and descend to Mandara Hut for lunch then proceed to the park gate where your driver is waiting. Transfer to your hotel in Arusha for overnight. You will arrive at the hotel at approximately around 4 pm. Dinner and overnight at Arusha Mountain Village.
