CHARITY CLIMB TO MOUNT KILIMANJARO
Day 1: Arusha –Moshi
Leave Arusha and proceed to Moshi. You will stay at Tarn Hut Resort where you will meet with your guide, porters and cook. Here you will be instructed about your upcoming climb.
Day 2: Machame Camp (3000 meter)
After breakfast you will be brought by a 4×4 car to your start point Machame Gate (1500 meter) were you will meet your guide and porters. Then you will start your climb of 4 hours through the Montane forest (tropical) and you will finish at Machame Camp (3000 meter) having diner and overnight stay.
Day 3: East Shira Plateau (3800 meter)
Today you will be climbing approximately 5 hours leaving the tropical forest behind and you will be crossing steppes and rocky areas and finally will arrive in volcanic area. You will have diner and overnight stay at Shira Camp.
Day 4:. Barranco Camp (3940 meter)
Your climb of today takes approximately 7 hours. First you will climb the Lava Tower (4630 meter) for a spectacular view. This climb is pretty heavy and if unfortunate you can feel the first signs of altitude illness. After lunch you will descend to the lower Barranco Camp (3940 meter) which is dessert area. Here you will have diner/overnight stay/breakfast. If you choose to have an extra acclimatisation day, you will have it here.
Day 5: Barafu Camp (4600 meter)
You will leave Barranco Valley and then you will cross the lower part gletsjers on the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro towards the northern located Barafu (Swahili for ice). On the way you will pass Karanga Valley. Here you will have the last change to obtain liquid water. After 7 hours you will arrive at Barafu Camp for overnight stay. Make sure you are well protected against low temperatures.
Day 6: Uhuru Peak (5895 meter) – Mweka Camp (2800 meter)
Today is the climax of your climb. You will start climbing short after midnight approximately 7 hours to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak where you will arrive in the early morning. After facing all your emotions it is time to sign the “summit book” and to prepare yourself for descending via Barafu Camp towards Mweka Hut (2800 meter), this will take about 5 hours. This day is probably the toughest day of the whole climb.
Day 7: Moshi
Your adventure has almost finished. Today you will be descending for another 4 hours towards Mweka Gate. If you have reached Uhuru Peak you will be rewarded with a certificate at the gate. Overnight at Tarn Hut Resort.
